Management is Sinking the ship
5.0Current Employee / Software Developer
Pros: Gitlab is an amazing place to work, but values and culture is declining because of poor management.
Cons: I do not like the management and how it is responding to everything, I think we should bring back sid.

Formally great company ruined by management
3.0Current Employee / Engineer
Pros: Remote, good work life balance, coworkers are genuinely collaborative and great to work with
Cons: Leadership is absolutely atrocious. The entire e-group has no vision or plan to get there. Lack of communication. Understaffed in key areas. It was once a great company to work for, but now it’s just like every other company with a narci...

Opportunity is significant
5.0Current Employee / Senior Solution Architect
Pros: Fast changing culture to align to the market opportunity Product fit with AI is is exciting CIO/CTO demand is strong in enterprise
Cons: Change is hard anywhere but the whole industry is going through it. If you haven’t seen change in a tech company before, you will have views similar to those exiting where I see it as normal maturation during a growth phase.

The company is more or less done
3.0Current Employee / Solutions Architect
Pros: Some good people are still around. SCM and CI are great. The rest are meh.
Cons: C-level has destroyed the company inside out. Culture is dying. Attrition thru the roof.

The manager is key
4.0Current Employee / Solutions Architect
Pros: If you have a great manager I think GitLab can be a great place to work. You can organize your work extremely freely and there is a lot that you can shape and everything is considered WIP.
Cons: The push to AI feels immature and the SA org is doing a fulltime job managing customer expectations, arguing against pricing and collecting feedback. The amount of tasks where are responsible for increased drastically while it feels like...
